A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM: PROM NIGHT is a 45-minute outreach show for middle school audiences. It is a cut version of Britten's opera based on the Shakespeare play. Focusing on the four lovers, Lysander, Hermia, Demetrius, and Helena navigate young love as their prom night takes a magical turn thanks to Oberon and Puck, ghosts who haunt Athens Academy. It proves to be quite an eventful night of mismatched affection, delightfully confused by the meddlesome yet well-meaning spirits. As the midsummer evening wanes, all is put right, and all learn valuable lessons of tolerance, acceptance, and love.
